1. Objectives / Who We Are
Recovered Energy Funding Corporation (REFCO) is a Canadian company incorporated in 2008 that is based in Toronto. REFCO utilizes plasma-gasification developed by Recovered Energy Inc. of Pocatello, Idaho USA to destroy large quantities of municipal solid waste and generate clean electric power without harmful emissions.
Here is a Documentary video that describes REFCO’s waste-to-energy plant technology:

Each REFCO plant diverts 3,000 tons of waste per day from landfill sites that are often already over capacity. It creates commercially viable byproducts like slag and aggregate used in the steel and construction industries while also producing a synthetic gas (syngas) that is used to generate 350 to 450 megawatt hours of electricity.
Additionally, each REFCO plant provides jobs for 1,500 workers during construction and generates 450 well-paying full time jobs when it is up and running. These jobs, in turn, stimulate other sectors of the economy and create further employment in diverse sectors.
The time required to build a plant and bring it to operational capacity is four to five years.
REFCO anticipates working with parties based in the host jurisdiction who will be responsible for security, government relations and the implementation of practices that expand opportunities for local suppliers to work with REFCO on the construction of its waste-to-energy plant or plants.
